Rosario attended the Culinary Institute in Palermo, Italy taught by famous chefs of the world. His passion for cooking bought him to
Plaza Hotel in Brussels, Belgium and Gran Hotel Des Bians, Venice Lido Resort, Venice where he cooked for many celebraties
among the most recent right here in Elmwood Park, N.J. Shania Twain and the cast of Sopranos and many players of the Giants
Football Team. Lola Falana and Abe Vigoda were the first of his celebrities.
He together with wife Lucia have been in the restaurant business for 20 plus years, receiving many awards for their outstanding
performance in cooking and service, he had one burning ambition "to satisfy the most refined tastes". He thus was constantly looking
for exclusive products to elaborate artfully, presenting unforgettable dishes. Only until recently they decided to retire, and start traveling.
Closing Foro Italico Restaurant in Elmwood Park, N.J. Tony son of Rosario and Lucia made sure that did not happen....after one
year at Ramapo College he deciding that he together with dad should open a small family restaurant. Rosario who did not need much
persuasion started his quest to find that small, romantic, restaurant in a serene setting of trees and rocks that look like sculptures and
the perfumes of the Mediterranean vegetation, he found the perfect location and gave it the family name of Sangiorgio's Italian Bistro
located at 86 Boonton Ave. Kinnelon, New Jersey
They also have a beautiful outdoor "al fresco" dining
"room" where everyone can enjoy dinner and Lucia's
excellent homemade desserts including family recipes of
excellent flavors of both Italian and Sicilian desserts.

By PATRICIA MACK, Food Editor

Section: LIFESTYLE / FOOD
In a state where Italian restaurants sprout up faster than you can
say "tomato in basil sauce," it isn't at all odd that two -- count 'em,
two -- local chefs were selected to be among the four to cook for the
annual Great Italians dinner at the James Beard House in New York City.
Rosario Sangiorgio of Foro Italico Restaurant will bring his expertise to
the table, being one of the two local chefs of New Jersey

AT FORO ITALICO IN ELMWOOD PARK

Looks can be deceiving. Foro Italico is located on a not-so-pretty
Route 46. But inside, the wine is cool, the bread hot, the service friendly,
and the food surprisingly good. Better than good -- excellent.

BEST BITES -- DISHES THAT DAZZLED OUR REVIEWERS IN 1997
By PATRICIA MACK, Food Editor

The restaurant doesn't have to rate four stars, or even three, to have a dish so
spectacular that it sends our reviewers into paroxysms of joy. That's what
The Record's annual Best Bites awards are about _ the memorable dishes sampled by
our reviewers in the course of their restaurant reviews during the past year.
No one votes, no one scores, it's simply a matter of identifying the appetizer,
entree, soup, or dessert that stood out from all. Foro Italico 235 Elm St.
Elmwood Park, N.J. was chosen by our reviewers to receive the Best Bites Award

New Jersey Monthly's 1999 Choice Awards
New Jersey Monthly 8/1/1999
by Valerie Sinclair
And the winners are . . . !
We should have a drum roll at this point. This is the sixteenth year that you, the readers, have named the restaurants that you
consider to be the very best in New Jersey. If there were ever any doubt about who decides whether or not a restaurant will
succeed, our annual Readers' Choice Awards make it very clear: The customer rules.
It is always interesting to suppose how the Readers Choice Awards can influence restaurant-goers. Last year the exciting
Italian restaurant Moonstruck in Ocean Grove was a write-in favorite for Central Jersey; this year readers named it the region's
Best Undiscovered Restaurant. In the south this award goes to Girasole, which, after several years in Atlantic City, is again
attracting attention. And An American Grill in Randolph has secured a place in this category in the north for the second year
in a row. Although many restaurants in North Jersey have excellent wine lists, Park & Orchard in East Rutherford once again
takes top honors in this category, as it has for the last six years. For Best Hotel Restaurant in the north, readers again picked
the Dining Room at the Hilton at Short Hills. Chez Madeleine in Bergenfield again was voted Best French restaurant in the
region. Best Casual Italian eatery is Foro Italico in Elmwood Park, while John Foy's Sonoma Grill in East Rutherford is
where to enjoy North Jersey's Best New American cuisine; Foy and his brother Dennis, now based in Manhattan, are
among the gifted chefs who changed the face of New Jersey restaurants, so it is gratifying to know that they continue to
excite patrons.
